IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
CE CREDIT SUBMISSIONS In 2005, NYSDA and the Foundation instituted a policy whereby there is a one-year limit to acceptance of CE submissions for inclusion in the NYSDA Continuing Education Registry. PLEASE NOTE: This policy remains in effect. The one-year limit commences the day of a CE course and concludes exactly one year to that date. We will not accept any submissions after the one-year time period. Understandably, the current landscape, combined with the Board of Regents' recent decision to temporarily forego the “live course” format toward re-licensure has resulted in a tremendous influx of CE transcripts to the office. Consider the fact that a year ago, this office averaged 300 uploads, or roughly 750 sheets of records monthly. April 2020 has seen a spike in this figure - to 1,472 submissions or 3,888 submissions alone.
These number don’t include submissions from faxes, mail or component submissions. We mention this only to let you know that we are tackling these entries mightily and apologize for delays, which we are striving to keep at minimum. Thank you for your understanding and, from the staff of your Foundation, stay safe! |

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
NYS REQUIREMENT FOR PRESCRIBING OPIOID DRUGS Due to the impact of Novel Coronavirus – COVID-19 in NYS, prescribers who were due to attest or re-attest between June 30, 2020 and September 30, 2020, now have until October 1, 2020 to complete the required coursework or training and attest or re-attest. IMPORTANT UPDATE:
NYS DENTAL LICENSURE Some regulations restrict licensees to a certain percentage of self-study for continuing education requirements. In response to the evolving situation with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and for those licensees whose registrations are due to renew March 1, 2020- January 1, 2022, the Department will grant an adjustment to all licensees to complete up to 100% of the continuing education as self-study, so long as it is taken from a Department-approved provider and is in an acceptable subject area for the specific profession. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is working closely with other New York State agencies and the Governor’s Office to tackle issues relating to COVID-19. Please continue to monitor the Department’s website for updated guidance. (NYSDA members should refer often to nysdental.org-COVID19 for communications from their leadership.) We are all in this together. And we assure you we are doing everything possible to maintain and promote optimum communications and ongoing efficiencies. |
