Foundation of Excellence in Academics Award
This year’s recipient of the Foundation of Excellence in Academics Award is the Dental Hygiene Program at SUNY Broome Community College in Binghamton in recognition of its strong record of demonstrating creative and innovative use of science curricula to teach oral health.
Past winners of this award include Dr. Michael Alfano, Dr. Allan Formicola, Dr. Richard N. Buchanan, Dr. Charles Bertolami and the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
In its 50 years of existence, SUNY Broome’s Dental Hygiene Department has become a premier program in New York State, in large part due its commitment to integrating quality education with meaningful opportunities for students to work within the community. The SUNY Broome on-campus dental hygiene state of the art clinic houses 26 dental units, 7 x-ray operatories, two labs and various classrooms. Throughout the entire educational experience, student growth is nurtured and critical and ethical judgement is promoted to encourage life-long learning.
