Mandated Infection Control Course Now Online

“Infection Control Training and Hazard Communications for the Dental Team”

The New York State Dental Foundation’s updated NYSDA Infection Control and Dental Practice course is now available online at
www.nysdentalfoundation.org, giving dentists and their staffs another convenient way in which to fulfill the New York State
mandate for infection control training.

In addition to the CDC’s best management techniques and recommendations,
“Infection Control Training and Hazard Communications for the Dental Team,” which is also available on CD-ROM includes: new
concepts and technology such as the introduction of “standard precautions;” restrictions for DHCW occupationally exposed to or
infected with infectious diseases; hand hygiene products; transmissible spongiform encephalopathies; dental water quality, and
more.

People taking the course online can download a self assessment survey which should be completed and mailed back to the
Foundation for 4 MCE credits and a certificate of completion.

This course not only fulfills the state mandate for licensure for dentists and hygienists but it can also be used to supplement OSHA
training for staff.

Dentists and dental hygienists are required to complete the revised infection control training every four years. This course is co-
sponsored by the NYSDA which is an ADA CERP member.
