| Former NYSDA President Bestows Gift to Foundation Dr. Michael W. Fallon, Jr., who was president of the New York State Dental Association in 2001, has made a generous contribution to the New York State Dental Foundation. In announcing the gift at the recent Annual Meeting of the NYSDA Board of Governors, Dr. Fallon, a practicing oral surgeon, noted that dentistry has been an incredibly rewarding profession, and that it was time to "give a little something back." While Dr. Fallon had initially planned to quietly make his donation, he decided to go public with the gift as a way to encourage others who have benefited from the fruits of the dental profession and through their involvement with organized dentistry, to help ensure that the Foundation will continue exceed and expand its horizons. Just this year alone, the Foundation has grown to a point in which it was able to donate sizeable contributions to support the dental hygiene program at SUNY Canton/Mohawk Community College and the new dental assisting program at Hudson Valley Community College. "Micky's kindness and support have always been important to the Foundation," explains Dr. Downes. "But today, receiving his generous gift has been an unbelievable bonus, one which will enable us to continue to develop programs to help underserved populations receive access to oral care and to further enhance our ongoing programs." Those who are interested in making a contribution to the New York State Dental Foundation should contact Ms. Leon at (800)255-2100. Potential donors may also wish to access the Foundation's Guidelines on Giving, which can be downloaded from its website, www.nysdentalfoundation.org. |
