This October, the New York State Dental Foundation, in cooperation with the New York and
New Jersey AIDS Education and Training Center, will host the first-ever Summit on Oral Health
Care, HIV and AIDS. The program will take place in New York City. It will present an array of
experts, who will discuss topics ranging from confidentiality and legal issues to HIV counseling
and testing.

The Summit is a daylong (9am to 4:30pm) program that will work to approach HIV and AIDS
through a multidisciplinary lens. Additional details and online registration for this event will be

Updates:

  • Kathy Eklund, Director of Infection Control and Occupational Health and the Research Subject Advocate at the Forsyth
    Institute, will present on the topic of post-exposure prophylaxis at the 2008 Summit on Oral Health Care, HIV and AIDS.

  • Helene Bednarsh, RDH, MPH, Director of the Boston EMA HIV Dental program and Vice President of HIVdent, will be
    participating in a panel discussion at the Summit on confidentiality and human rights.

  • Carla Hogan, Esq. a partner with the law firm Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP will be participating in a panel discussing
    Confidentiality and Human Rights at the 2008 Summit on Oral Health Care, HIV and AIDS.

  • Dr. David Reznik of Grady Health Systems has accepted the NYSDF's invitation to present at the 2008 Summit on Oral
    Health Care, HIV and AIDS.

  • The New York and New Jersey AIDS Education and Training Center has partnered with the New York State Dental
