| Elder Oral Health Care Summit April 6, 2006 On April 6th, 2006 the Elder Oral Health Care Summit was held at the Crown Plaza in Albany, New York. The funding for this event was provided by a grant from the American Dental Association Foundation with generous support from GlaxoSmithKline. The event was sponsored by the New York State Dental Foundation, Empire Project for Oral Health and New York State Association of Area Aging Agencies. The Summit was designed to create community capacity for action. Specifically, the purpose was to bring together stakeholders to begin the process by which we can articulate and categorize barriers to the development not of elder oral health services in New York State and develop specific recommendations to overcome some of those barriers. With the help of all those individuals and organizations that participated in the summit brought forth their collective experience and the desire to improve the health and lives of elders. The final report from the Summit, which was prepared based on the recommendation of the three workforce group. Please remember that not everyone will agree with every recommendation reflected in this document. However, it is hoped that the Summit, and its subsequent report, was the crucial first step toward opening the discussion, and, working collaboratively, affecting solutions which will go a long way toward improving the oral health of elders. Please note that currently report is available in both English and Spanish, with future translations into Chinese, Russian and Italian are pending. These PDFs may take several minutes to download. |
